Muscat – The project, with an investment value of 10 million Omani riyals, will see Aviagen providing full technical support to manage the venture.
The establishment of the poultry project aims to enhance food security and achieve self-sufficiency in white meat in the Sultanate of Oman, significantly reducing the country’s reliance on imports.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Hadi bin Mohsen Al Lawati, CEO of Osool Poultry Company, and Bulent Tanyildizi from Aviagen.
This project is a critical component of the poultry industry, focusing on the production of fertilized eggs and high-quality chicks for production farms and various other poultry initiatives. By launching this vital project, Osool Poultry Company seeks to mitigate risks associated with imports and the transmission of pathogens, as well as to overcome logistical challenges such as transportation.
Currently, Osool Poultry Company operates with a production capacity of 150 million fertilized eggs annually, importing one-day-old chicks from several countries. This new project is expected to further bolster the company’s production capabilities.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources is playing a pivotal role in supporting the poultry project in Oman. By transferring global knowledge and expertise, the Ministry aims to integrate the latest technologies and practices in poultry farming. This initiative will also contribute to training and qualifying Omani national cadres, enhancing their capabilities in this sector and boosting its competitiveness.
The poultry project requires meticulous care and monitoring to ensure the health of the birds and the quality of the eggs produced. The project will feature state-of-the-art farms equipped with the latest technologies for raising and producing hatching eggs.
