MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Tuesday received a phone call from His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden who thanked His Majesty for securing the release of two Swedish citizens from Iran.
On June 15, Iran and Sweden completed an Oman-mediated prisoner swap involving the release of a former Iranian official in exchange for a European Union diplomat and another Swedish-Iranian citizen.
In a statement issued, Oman News Agency said the King thanked for the efforts made by Oman “in reaching understandings between his country and Iran to release two Swedish citizens and return them to their homeland.”

The King of Sweden also highlighted the positive role that the Sultanate of Oman contributes to resolving many international issues.
