Muscat – As per a statement from the Environment Authority, the Court of Appeal in Salalah has convicted two individuals from a neighboring country on charges of participating with others in smuggling a number of wild animals. Some of these animals are listed in Appendix 1 of the Law on Nature Reserves and Wildlife Conservation (Royal Decree No. 6/2003)
The court sentenced each of the accused to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of RO 1,000. Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of the smuggled animals and other seized items.
In light of this ruling, the Environment Authority has urged the public to preserve the natural environment and avoid actions that could harm wildlife, emphasizing the legal consequences of such offenses.
