Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the recent agreements between the Islamic Republic of Iran and France, resulting in the release of a French citizen detained in Tehran.

Muscat – The French citizen (Louis Arnaud) has been transferred to Muscat, where arrangements are being made for his return to France.
Oman appreciates the constructive dialogue and positive spirit demonstrated during the discussions between these two friendly nations.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron had taken to the X platform to express his gratitude to “Omani friends” and all those who worked for this happy ending.
Arnaud, a banking consultant in his 30s, was arrested while traveling through Iran in 2022. He was later sentenced to five years in prison on national security charges, coinciding with the widespread protests that erupted following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.
