The inaugural edition of Themar Awards encompasses eight principal categories:
- Best Islamic Bank
- Best Islamic Banking Window
- Best Sharia-Compliant Investment
- Best Takaful Financing and Insurance Companies
- Best Islamic Banking Personality (CEO/General Manager)
- Digital Transformation
- Sustainability
- Startups
Through this venture, The Arabian Stories aims to bolster the Islamic finance sector, uphold its principles, and foster sustainable economic and social progress. It seeks to create a conducive environment to recognize institutions that follow Sharia-compliant transactions for optimal performance, and to promote excellence, innovation, and initiatives in the Islamic finance industry.

The award also aims to stimulate efforts to develop the sector and to highlight and appreciate the contributions of outstanding Islamic financial institutions, and honour distinguished individuals in related sectors.
Eligibility Criteria:
Participation in the awards is open to individuals and institutions offering Sharia-compliant investments or services. However, institutions must have been operational for at least three years, following a well-defined evaluation methodology based on realistic performance indicators. Investment and endowment funds or programs need to be established for a minimum of two years.
Judging Panel:
To ensure a rigorous and professional evaluation process, Themar Islamic Banking Excellence Awards 2024 has assembled a distinguished panel of judges. This panel comprises experts, specialists, and prominent personalities within Oman’s national economy. Leading the committee is His Highness Sayyid Dr. Adham Al Said, Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University’s College of Economics and Political Science.
Other confirmed committee members include:
- Dr. Siham Al Harthy, Chairman of Sama Real Estate Company and Board Member of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- Dr. Ashraf Al Nabhan, former Chairman of the Muscat Securities Market
- Dr. Ahmed Kashoub, Chairman of the Index Center for Economic and Financial Consultations
The Central Bank of Oman has been designated as the Strategy Partner for the awards.

Those interested in competing for the inaugural edition of the awards can access nomination forms via the official TAS website: https://www.thearabianstories.com/themar/ The deadline for submitting nominations is Sunday, August 25, 2024. The winning institutions and individuals will be announced during the third quarter of 2024.
