UAE: The Federal Authority of Human Resources has confirmed that employees in the UAE will enjoy a paid holiday from Saturday, June 15, until Tuesday, June 18, to observe Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha. This decision was announced following the sighting of the crescent of Dhul Hijjah 1445 on Friday, June 7, from Abu Dhabi.

Arafah Day, observed on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, falls on June 15 this year. It is the holiest day in Islam, preceding the three-day Eid Al Adha holiday, which will be celebrated from June 16 to 18. Consequently, UAE residents will benefit from a long weekend spanning four days.

The announcement ensures that both public and private sector employees will have the same holiday period, allowing for widespread observance and celebration of these significant Islamic events.

The sighting of the crescent moon on June 7 was also confirmed by authorities in Saudi Arabia, indicating the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah. Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid Al Adha starting on June 16, aligning with the UAE’s schedule.

However, other countries such as Oman, India, and Pakistan will mark the first day of Eid Al Adha on June 17, based on their respective moon observations.
