Muscat: Under the theme “Accreditation Empowers Tomorrow and Building the Future,” the event aims to raise awareness among consumers, suppliers, and individuals about the significance of international accreditation in today’s world.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion in Oman is set to commemorate World Accreditation Day with a series of impactful initiatives and events. Central to this year’s celebration is the theme “Accreditation Empowers Tomorrow and Building the Future,” highlighting the transformative power of accreditation in addressing contemporary challenges and driving sustainable development.

One of the key highlights of the event is a workshop titled “Empowering Laboratories,” organized by the Ministry to delve into the challenges faced by the laboratory sector and devise effective solutions. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to streamlining procedures, enhancing legislative frameworks, and boosting the efficiency of laboratories for the benefit of stakeholders.

A significant milestone during this celebration is the inauguration of the Gulf Accreditation Center branch in Oman. This branch, in collaboration with the Accreditation Office at the General Directorate of Standards and Metrology, will play a pivotal role in implementing the National Accreditation Center’s roadmap. It will also facilitate the process of obtaining international accreditation for conformity assessment bodies, including laboratories, certification bodies, and inspection bodies, that is in line with international standards.

Furthermore, the branch will focus on training and qualifying personnel, ensuring adherence to international recognition criteria, and fostering a pool of highly skilled evaluators to support Oman’s accreditation endeavours on regional and global platforms.
