Oman elected to key UN women’s rights committee

The Sultanate of Oman has been elected to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) at the United Nations for 2025-2028.

NEW YORK: This election took place during the twenty-third meeting of the States Parties to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the UN headquarters in New York.

Oman will be represented by Engineer Hamida bint Salloum Al-Shukairiya, Director of the Rural Development Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources. Her appointment to the Committee underscores Oman’s commitment to advancing women’s rights and highlights its growing influence in international affairs.

Oman’s election to the CEDAW committee for the period of 2025-2028 underscores its commitment to advancing women’s rights and empowerment on a global scale.
