It was the Cannes Film Festival week and many new stories were shared, reflecting on the ever-evolving landscape of this artform. With a wide array of content available in the streaming space, here are two shows that are worth every accolade.

Baby Reindeer (Netflix)

A standup comedian and aspiring writer has a suspicious stalker who has taken a strange liking to him and will go to any lengths to grab his attention.

Based on a riveting true story, Writer and Actor Richard Gadd portrays himself in this psychological thriller series. Working as a bartender in London, he is faced with a situation where a woman named Martha comes into his life, refusing to leave without sending him into a frenzy of self-discovery and psychological madness.

The story alone is compelling enough to leave you speechless, but Richard Gadd goes one step ahead and delivers a shocking script for this harrowing mini-series that will leave you searching for something you didn’t know you could feel.

A Gentleman In Moscow (Amazon Prime)

Based on a 2016 novel by Amor Towles, this beautiful series is a take on change, the harrowing effect of time, and an intimate look into post-Revolutionary Russia.

The story follows Count Alexander Rostov, who is stripped of his material wealth and title, only to be deemed a commoner after the revolution. Exiled to house arrest in the grand Moscow Hotel, the count is a prisoner of the past and the future, a relic finding it hard to come to terms with change.

Ewan McGregor gracefully adorns this role, effortlessly breathing life into the character and making every interaction and dialogue enjoyable. This series will put life’s many choices into perspective, raising a mirror to look within you.
