Oman Business Forum discusses future of energy and industries

Muscat – Organized by ‘The Business Year’ foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, the forum drew attention to crucial aspects shaping Oman’s economic landscape.

Addressing the forum, H.E. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, emphasized the increasing significance of renewable energy sustainability in driving the Sultanate’s business future and local economy. He highlighted Oman’s ambitious target to annually produce at least one million tons of green hydrogen, to position the country as the Middle East’s largest exporter and the sixth-largest global exporter by 2030.

Oman is witnessing substantial investments from major manufacturers keen to leverage opportunities in green hydrogen production and export, he noted.

The Minister also underscored the partnership initiative between the Ministry and The Business Year to issue the tenth edition of the annual book titled ‘Oman 2024’.

Aisi Hazir, CEO and founder of The Business Year, commended Oman as a highly attractive investment destination, citing significant developmental strides witnessed in recent years. She highlighted the collaboration with the Ministry to publish the annual book ‘Oman 2024’, spotlighting Oman’s achievements and developments, particularly in green investments.

Engineer Ammar bin Sulaiman Al Kharousi, Director-General of the Investment Services Center in Al Nadab, presented a strategic overview of the Invest in Oman initiative, emphasizing its pivotal role in attracting quality investments aligned with national priorities. The forum included discussions on enabling technology-based businesses, digital transformation, sustainability, and initiatives for environmental preservation and social responsibility.

Attended by Omani businessmen representing various trade sectors, the forum provided a platform to assess the investment environment, energy transition, technological advancements in banking services and logistics, and strategies for sustainable business practices
