Muscat – The tourism sector in Jabal Akhdar has witnessed a significant growth, with visitor numbers reaching 30,867 by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
This surge in visitor numbers is complemented by the establishment of 16 hotel facilities, and diverse accommodation options to visitors, stated a media release, issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, on its website.


Highlighting the region’s prime location, exceptional climate, and breathtaking natural landscapes, the Ministry stressed that the surge in tourism has not only bolstered investment prospects but also fostered environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and local community development.
H.E. Sheikh Sultan bin Mansour Al Ghufaili, Wali of Jabal Al Akhdar, lauded the abundant investment opportunities in the tourism sector, emphasizing the completion of essential infrastructure projects and significant advancements across various domains. With unwavering government support and a conducive investment climate, numerous investors are keen to capitalize on the burgeoning prospects in the Wilayat.
Ahmed bin Hamad Al Nabhani, a member of the Municipal Council in the Jabal Akhdar Wilayat, revealed plans for a large-scale tourism investment project in the Hail Al Masbat area, overlooking Wadi Bani Kharous and other areas in the South Al Batinah Governorate. This project, poised to be one of the largest in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, underscores the transformative potential of tourism investment in the region.
Ali bin Saeed bin Muhammad Al Adawi, Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, highlighted the diverse investment opportunities in Jabal Al Akhdar, ranging from hotels and resorts to recreational activities and cultural tourism projects.
