Muscat: The OHRC, in line with its mandate outlined in Royal Decree No 57/2022, has initiated the formation of a dedicated fact-finding team to investigate the recent deaths in North al Sharqiyah Governorate. The team’s primary objective is to comprehensively assess the situation and submit a detailed report within one month from its inception.
This proactive step by OHRC underscores its commitment to upholding human rights and ensuring accountability in the face of unforeseen tragedies. The commission’s jurisdiction extends to monitoring human rights violations, facilitating their resolution, and providing guidance to relevant authorities.
In a recent statement, OHRC emphasized the importance of preventing such heartbreaking incidents from recurring. The commission urged authorities to implement necessary measures in alignment with national laws and international agreements, emphasizing the fundamental right to life as the cornerstone of all human rights.
