Oman weather: Thunderstorms, rainfall sweep across several governorates in Oman

The latest radar data from Muscat has revealed intense thunderstorm activity and variable rainfall spreading across multiple governorates in Oman.

Muscat – South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Dhahirah are currently experiencing varying degrees of precipitation.
Oman Meteorology’s weather forecast for April 15 reads as follows: “Partly cloudy to cloudy over most of the governorates with chances of thunderstorms and heavy rain associated with active downdraft winds and hail which may cause flash flood are expected over Al Dhahira, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, South Al Sharqiya, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, Musandam and parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar.
“Chance of low clouds or fog batches over parts of Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates, as well as dust over desert and open areas.
“Horizontal visibility might reduce during thunder rainfall, fog formation and dust rising.”
Residents are urged to exercise caution as these weather conditions can lead to sudden changes in visibility and road conditions. Additionally, those living near wadi streams are advised to remain vigilant as there is a risk of flash flooding.
