Muscat – The patient required urgent transfer to the Royal Hospital due to an enlargement and slow rupture of the thoracic aorta. This rare condition weakens the aorta, the body’s main artery, and risks a fatal rupture.
A specialized medical team at the Royal Hospital performed the life-saving operation; the team, led by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hajri and Dr. Tamer Sayed Fouad, successfully conducted a catheterization procedure and implanted special stents within just 30 minutes.
Thoracic aortic aneurysm is a rare and potentially fatal condition, making the success of this operation particularly noteworthy. Complications of a thoracic aortic aneurysm include rupture of the aorta or a life-threatening tear between the layers of the aorta’s wall.
