Muscat: The latest statistics underline nuanced trends within Oman’s petroleum sector, delineating changes in both production volumes and sales figures across various fuel categories. While regular automobile fuel (91) production experienced a 16% decline, premium automobile fuel (95) surged by 25%, signaling a notable preference shift among consumers.

Amidst these changes, the production figures reflect specific quantities: regular automobile fuel (91) production stood at approximately 2,386,000 barrels, with sales reaching 2,231,300 barrels. In contrast, premium automobile fuel (95) production recorded 2,214,600 barrels, accompanied by sales of 2,047,700 barrels.

The data also delves into the production dynamics of gas oil (diesel), which decreased by 17% to 4,588,700 barrels, while aviation fuel production soared by 36%, reaching 2,102,600 barrels. Notably, liquefied petroleum gas production registered 1,409,300 barrels, with sales reaching 1,630,100.

Shifting focus to petrochemicals, the statistics underscore a mixed landscape. Gasoline production witnessed a 22% rise, reaching 28,400 metric tons, while paraxylene production surged by 31%, totalling 100,100 metric tons. However, polypropylene production faced a 6% decline at 38,300 metric tons, albeit with a substantial 77% increase in sales at 6,000 metric tons.

Export-wise, Oman experienced varying trends. Exports of automotive fuel (91) declined by 13%, standing at 505,800 barrels, while premium automotive fuel (95) exports skyrocketed by 691%, totalling 276,900 barrels. Additionally, gas oil (diesel) exports reached 2,128,200 barrels, and aviation fuel exports amounted to 1,338,400 barrels. Notably, exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 147,600 barrels.
