Over RO 22 million allocated for development projects in Oman’s Dakhiliyah Governorate

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is set for a significant infrastructure upgrade with over RO 22 million allocated for various projects in 2024.

Muscat – These initiatives, part of the Governorate Development Program and the Development Budget Program, aim to fulfill national development objectives while meeting specified standards and addressing community needs.
With a total of 43 projects underway, the allocated funds will be utilized for various endeavors, including road paving and rehabilitation, market development, public garden creation, and aesthetic enhancements.
H.E. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, underscored the priority placed on implementing these projects to enhance the social and economic dimensions of development while catering to the evolving needs of the community.
Engineer Sulaiman bin Hamad Al Sunaidi, Director General of the Municipality of Al Dakhiliyah, highlighted key road projects, such as internal road paving in Wilayat Bahla and Wilayat Al Hamra, with lengths of 62 km and 51 km, respectively. Additionally, internal road paving projects in various Wilayats, including Samail, Bidbid, Jabal Al Akhdar, Manah, and Izki, are currently in progress.
Moreover, efforts are underway to develop and beautify state entrances and commercial areas, with projects focusing on entertainment spaces, afforestation, pedestrian paths, and parking facilities. The municipality is also keen on creating recreational spaces, with plans to establish and rehabilitate parks and gardens across the governorate.
Attention is being given to enhancing lighting infrastructure, with several lighting projects underway to improve visibility and reduce operational costs. Furthermore, initiatives are in place to establish markets for selling vegetables, fruits, and fodder, as well as to develop kiosks and municipal slaughterhouses in various states.
These concerted efforts reflect Muscat Municipality’s commitment to promoting sustainable development, enhancing public services, and creating a conducive environment for residents and visitors alike.
Key projects include:
• Internal road paving in Bahla (62 km) and Al Hamra (51 km) expected to be completed by year-end.
• Additional road paving projects in Samail (15 km), Bidbid (14 km), Jabal Al Akhdar (12.5 km), Manah (10 km), and Izki (10 km).
• Industrial area road paving in Nizwa, Bahla, Adam, Izki, and Bidbid (total 28 km).
• Consultation studies for designing internal roads across the governorate (total 150 km).
• Development of the Nizwa entrance (phase 1) with entertainment areas, exercise spaces, and landscaping.
• Development of the commercial area in Al-Touq, Izki.
• Consultation for duplicating and developing the Jabal Al Akhdar entrance (5 km) with sidewalks and landscaping.
• New markets for vegetables and fruits in Nizwa and Izki.
• Establishment of a fodder market in Adam.
• Construction of a municipal slaughterhouse in Al Hamra.
• Creation of kiosks in Jabal Al Akhdar.
• Development and rehabilitation of parks and gardens across various wilayats.
• Maintenance and repair projects for damaged roads in Adam and Samail.
• Replacement of lighting pole heads with energy-saving LED technology on internal roads.
