MUSCAT : As per the statistics issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, 2023 witnessed 241 exhibitions in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, recording an increase of 141 percent, compared to the number of exhibitions that were held in 2022, which amounted to 178 events.
These exhibitions encompassed a diverse range of themes, including specialized exhibitions, cultural showcases, and forums highlighting national and Gulf industries.
Besides, the government is actively attracting international and regional exhibitions, encouraging local and foreign investment in organizing and managing events. Updated regulations aim to streamline the process and encourage further growth.
The Ministry, represented by the Licensing Department, also affirmed that the exhibition sector is one of the best platforms to meet customers, display goods and services, conclude deals and obtain commercial agencies.
It also has an essential role in transferring information technology, localizing and spreading knowledge and inculcating professional practices to build understanding and relations between countries, cultures and civilizations; one of its most important goals is to promote national craft industries and products.
Ali bin Hamad bin Saif Al Mamari, Director of the Licensing Department, emphasized the regulatory reforms aimed at enhancing the exhibition landscape, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, and attracting investments. These measures align with the Ministry’s broader objectives to stimulate the local economy and propel Oman towards the goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
