MUSCAT : The Omani Lawyers Association (OLA) through the Fak Kurba initiative have so far managed to release a total of 689 citizens who were imprisoned for failing to meet financial obligations.
Launched during the holy month of Ramadan, the initiative aimed to raise financial donations to help people who are imprisoned due to claims in civil, commercial, legitimate or labour cases.
From the total 689 detainees released, North Al Batinah topped with 161 cases, followed by Muscat Governorate with 129 cases, while Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah had 93 cases.
