Oman aims to create 35,000 jobs in 2024

The Minister of Labour says the target is to achieve 35,000 job creation in public and private sectors.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Labour aims to create 35,000 jobs in the public and private sectors, and achieve a 90% job replacement rate in the government sector this year, according to His Excellency Professor Mahad Bin Said Bin Ali Baawain.

Addressing the annual conference organised by the Ministry to review the most prominent achievements it achieved in 2023, the targets and plans for the current year, the Minister said: “The number of opportunities that were filled last year amounted to more than 40,000 opportunities in the fields of employment, replacement, and training coupled with employment, out of a total of 35,000 targeted job opportunities, or a rate of more than 115 percent.”

Meanwhile, the number of the workforce in the private sector reached 2,145,553 until the end of 2023.

“The total number of workers in permanent and temporary jobs in the government sector until the end of August 2023 reached about 195,902 employees,” the Minister informed.

The Minister also added that 75% of the total services provided by the Ministry are digitized.
