Oman cracks down on hidden trade: National Team holds first meeting

National Team to Combat Hidden Trade held its first meeting to review and discuss the mechanism for implementing the decision to combat hidden trade.

MUSCAT : The team, comprising various governmental entities, emphasized the importance of swift action from company owners to rectify their commercial records and ensure compliance with regulations.

Led by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the team includes representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Tax Authority, SMEs Development Authority, and Consumer Protection Agency, among others.

During the meeting, the team outlined its objectives, which include proposing commercial activities subject to oversight, streamlining implementation procedures, and holding regular discussions with a technical team dedicated to enforcing anti-hidden trade measures.

The meeting also urged company owners to promptly reconcile their commercial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. This proactive approach aims to crackdown on hidden trade practices and foster a fair and transparent business environment.

As part of its mandate, the National Team to Combat Hidden Trade will continue to collaborate across sectors, leveraging expertise and resources to effectively combat illicit trade activities within the Sultanate of Oman.
