MUSCAT : Afflicted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Suleiman urgently requires Elevidys injections to stave off atrophy, muscle weakness, and paralysis.

In response to the pressing need for treatment, donations have poured in from all corners of the Sultanate, reflecting a heartening display of solidarity. The Ministry of Social Development’s Jood online platform has spearheaded a fundraising campaign to support Suleiman’s medical expenses.

The campaign has witnessed a remarkable response, with contributions totaling RO 69,532 out of the targeted RO100,000. As efforts continue to rally support for Suleiman’s cause, the importance of raising awareness about DMD and its debilitating effects remains paramount.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration, primarily affecting boys. Onset typically occurs in early childhood, with symptoms manifesting between ages 2 and 3. While DMD primarily impacts males, rare instances have been reported in females.
