Muscat: Oman has undertaken several significant projects to reduce the impact of disasters, particularly focusing on flood protection measures. A strategic plan has been devised to implement protection dams and develop unified government maps that identify valley paths and flood-prone areas. These initiatives are designed to prevent the establishment of infrastructure in vulnerable regions, thereby minimizing the risk of floods and facilitating efficient evacuation procedures during emergencies.

Moreover, through its building specifications project, Oman has prioritized the construction of buildings that are resilient to various disasters, including earthquakes. This initiative aims to adhere to international standards and best practices, ensuring structures can withstand unforeseen challenges.

In addition to physical infrastructure, Oman has also emphasized the importance of comprehensive risk management plans across public and private sectors. Specialized divisions have been established to handle natural, industrial, economic, and social risks, aligning with global standards to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
