NEW YORK : Held at the headquarters of Oman’s permanent delegation to the United Nations, the meeting centered on the dire situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.
These assaults, deemed violations of international humanitarian law, collective punishment, war crimes, and even genocide, were discussed.
The Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide appreciated Oman’s position, derived from the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, in support of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to live in security and dignity on their land. The conversation also underscored the importance of establishing a Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions.
