MUSCAT : H.E. Sulayem bin Ali bin Sulayem Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, in the presence of Brigadier Nasser bin Muslim Al Ruzaiqi, Director General of Information Technology at the Royal Oman Police, and a number of officials, launched the electronic link in the vehicle recall sector of the summons system on the Authority’s website.
Chairman Al Hakmani emphasized the importance of this milestone achievement, highlighting its role in enhancing the quality of government services. Developed in partnership with the Royal Oman Police’s General Traffic Department and vehicle agencies, this electronic link enables seamless data exchange, ensuring secure and updated information flow.
The primary objective of this connectivity is to bolster the response rate to vehicle recalls. By establishing links with relevant authorities, including the Royal Oman Police and vehicle agencies, the system facilitates tracking of recalled vehicles, their current status, and their whereabouts. This proactive approach aims to prevent wastage of public funds and ensure vehicle owners are promptly notified of any recalls.
Moreover, the electronic link promises to provide reliable and fast data with high accuracy. Its benefits extend to various stakeholders, including the Consumer Protection Authority, Royal Oman Police, local vehicle agents, and consumers themselves. The Authority will monitor response rates to summonses, while the Police aim to reduce accidents caused by vehicle defects. Local agents can enhance completion rates of summonses and provide crucial data on vehicle status, benefiting consumers by simplifying communication and potentially saving them from unnecessary expenses.
Al Hakmani underscored the importance of accurate data provided by the link, such as current vehicle ownership details, contact information, and vehicle status. This data, continually updated, ensures effective communication with vehicle owners regarding recalls and facilitates the procurement of spare parts.
This collaborative effort between government and private sectors reflects Oman’s commitment to achieving its 2040 vision, particularly in governance and institutional performance. With a focus on balanced and sustainable partnerships, this initiative exemplifies the proactive measures taken to serve the community and enhance road safety standards.
