Expats held in Oman for selling illegal chewing tobacco

The Consumer Protection Authority has seized 1660 contraband items and arrested several expatriate workers involved in trading and selling non-smoked chewing tobacco in Barka.

MUSCAT : In a statement issued online, the CPA stated that the “Consumer Protection Department in South Batinah Governorate in Barka, in cooperation with the control team at the Department of Action to Combat Non-Smoked Tobacco, arrested expatriate workers trading and selling non-smoked chewing tobacco.”

Legal measures have been taken against the offenders, including the imposition of an administrative fine. They will, subsequently, be referred to the appropriate authorities for further action.
