MUSCAT : As the Sultanate of Oman honours the legacy of late Sultan Qaboos and pays tribute to the achievements and milestones the country witnessed under his far-sighted leadership, there is also a jubilant mood in the air with people celebrating the Accession Day of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, whose able leadership has established Oman’s intent to forge ahead as a global leader.

From new regulations and directives to mega projects and sustainability measures, Oman has well lived up to the legacy set in motion by Late Sultan Qaboos, thanks to the visionary leadership of His Majesty the Sultan, who continues to lead the country from the front, providing his people right avenues and platforms to partner with the government in realizing the objectives set forth in the Vision 2040.

A firm advocate of late Sultan Qaboos’ development policy, His Majesty has, time and again, paid tribute to the former leader who initiated Oman’s renaissance and the march towards progress when he took over the reins of the country in 1970. In his historic Royal Speech following the accession to power, His Majesty stated thus: “The past five decades have witnessed a great transformation in building a modern state, establishing advanced infrastructure, all over the country, under the leadership of the architect of modern Oman, the Late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and with the efforts of the loyal people of Oman. We would like to voice our appreciation for their endeavours to promote Oman’s prosperity and stature. We will proceed along the path of development and we will continue the blessed renaissance march as the late Sultan wished it to be. Conscious of the immense responsibility, we reaffirm that Oman will always remain our supreme goal, in all actions and pursuits.”

Oman’s remarkable transformation under Late Sultan Qaboos’ rule for five long decades has been well documented. Global leaders have acknowledged the crucial role he played in fostering regional stability and diplomatic relations. His commitment to peaceful coexistence and mediation earned Oman a reputation as a neutral and trusted intermediary in the Middle East. His tireless efforts to promote dialogue and resolve conflicts were recognized on the international stage.

The Late Sultan Qaboos continues to be hailed for his contributions to the nation’s education, healthcare, and infrastructure development, ensuring that his people had access to quality services. His efforts led to a significant improvement in the standard of living for Omanis and fostered a sense of national pride.
