MUSCAT: Oman’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) has granted licence to telecom operators — Omantel and Ooredoo the right to use 100MHz 5G spectrum, which will offer endless opportunities for upgrading their services.
According to reports, both the telecom companies will construct and install 4,400 stations to operate 5G technology in the next five years, including 1,000 stations in 2019-2020.
“In the next five years, 4400 stations will be constructed by Omantel and Ooredoo and conduct workshops to inform relevant government agencies of the applications in preparation for their readiness to use it,” a TRA official informed.
