MUSCAT : This strategic initiative epitomizes PDO’s commitment to amplifying oil and gas production sustainably, concurrently aiming to curtail carbon emissions within its operations as part of its vision for achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050. Over the next three months, the project will undertake a comprehensive assessment by continuously injecting carbon dioxide into the reservoir.
Following this phase, a long-term injection lasting up to a year will be initiated, laying the groundwork for a sizable and sustainable CO2-enhanced oil recovery endeavour within PDO’s concession area. His Excellency Engineer Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, emphasized PDO’s commitment to augmenting production while prioritizing carbon emission reductions, aligning with Oman’s pledge of achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050.
Steve Phimister, Director General of PDO, underscored the project’s significance as a pivotal stride in PDO’s journey toward zero carbon neutrality, simultaneously optimizing the value of available natural resources.
