Oman welcomes Qatar’s announcement of humanitarian truce in Gaza

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s appreciation of Qatar’s announcement of reaching a humanitarian truce agreement in Gaza, exchanging a number of civilian prisoners, and allowing the entry of larger numbers of humanitarian convoys and relief aid into the Gaza Strip.

Muscat – Oman hailed the joint mediation carried out by the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt to achieve the truce.

The Ministry stated that it hopes this will lead to a permanent ceasefire and the resumption of real and just initiatives to achieve just and comprehensive peace.

In a post on X (Twitter), the Qatari Foreign Ministry had announced the success of its joint mediation efforts and pointed out that the starting time of the ‘humanitarian pause’ would be announced within the next 24 hours and last for four days, subject to extension.

The agreement includes the release of 50 civilian women and children hostages currently held in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of a number of Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli prisons, the number of those released will be increased in later stages of implementing the agreement.
