MUSCAT: Asfandyar XI defeated Sumukhas 1983 XI by 9 runs to win the 2nd edition of CATCUP 2023 sponsored by ALT- Abdullatif Trading and Transport Co. LLC.

Organised by Caterpillar Cricket Club 16 teams took part in the tournament held at four grounds in Ghala.

In the finals, Asfandyar XI won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 63 runs in 5 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Umer Aslam scored 29 runs from 12 balls and helped the team to set an unbeatable target for Sumukhas 1983 XI.

Chasing the target, Sumukhas 1983 XI could only score 54 runs in 5 overs. Gaurav Kanchan scored 21 runs from 8 balls and Azhar scored 16 runs from 13 balls. For Asfandyar XI, Ameer and Adnan bowled stupendously with good economy rate and lead the team to victory.

Umer Aslam (Asfandyar XI) was named the Man of the Match and Jithesh Poojary (Sumukhas 1983 XI) was named Man of the Series of the tournament.

Among the other individual performances, Jithesh Poojary from Sumukhas 1983 XI was named best bowler, and Azhar from Sumukhas XI named best batsman.
