Muscat: Priya Murali, the Vice-Principal (Primary section) of Indian School Muscat has been conferred with the prestigious CBSE Teacher’s Award 2018-19.
Priya, received the award along with 34 teachers and principals of various schools
in a ceremony held recently at Pravasi Bharitya Kendra ,New Delhi. It is worth noting that, Priya is the only teacher to win the award from GCC the region.

Priya has been with ISM since 2001 and has worked for the cause of students , teachers and institution at large. “It is a feeling of great pride and honour for Indian School Muscat when its Vice – Principal ( Primary Section ) and Advisor to the Principal – Ms. Priya Murali had been conferred this prestigious award,” said a statement from ISM.
Indian Ambassador Munu Mahawar congratulated and praised Priya’s efforts in inspiring hundreds of students in the school over the years. “She has not only made ISM proud but also the other teachers working in various schools in the country,” he said.
Congratulating Priya, Dr. Babysam Samuel said: “This award would inspire , motivate and help teachers in Indian schooling system to emulate and dedicate themselves for the cause of education ,”
The award comprises of a certificate of commendation , cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a shawl .
The awards were given by the Union Minister for Human Resource Development- Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Mr. Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for Human Resource Development was the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the event .
Dr. Rajeev Kumar Chauhan, Principal of Indian School Muscat said: “She was the first Vice- Principal among the Indian Schools in Oman to be a recipient of this award and the entire school was very proud of her.”
