Tire recycling plant worth over OMR 1.3 million opens in Oman

A modern tire recycling plant has been inaugurated In the Wilayat of Saham in North Al Batinah Governorate by the International Company for Recycling, with an investment value of over OMR 1.3 million and with a production capacity to process 6,000 metric tons of discarded tires annually.

MUSCAT : At the official opening ceremony of the factory that was held in Muscat under the auspices of H.E. Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, the Company confirmed that the factory was equipped with latest technology to reduce waste, conserve valuable resources and restrict the negative environmental impact of tires.


H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Omari, Chairman of the Environment Authority, stressed that there is great interest in the circular economy at the national level. The Authority has issued regulations to manage the export of waste and imposed fees on various wastes to be recycled locally, enhance the added value, and encourage the national industry in this field. He indicated that this factory is considered one of the pioneering projects in the field of tire recycling of various types and sizes.


He also added that after the waste regulation was issued in April 2021, the total number of factories operating in the field of recycling various wastes in the Sultanate of Oman has so far reached 30, some of which are under construction and are expected to be launched at the beginning of next year.
