MUSCAT – In a statement, the Ministry of Social Development has clarified that the statistics circulating on social media about domestic violence in the Sultanate are incorrect. After verifying the source of the statistics, the Ministry has confirmed that the statistic was based on a study issued by the Ministry back in 2017, which was the result of opinion questionnaires on a limited sample.
The Ministry added in its statement that there were 17 cases of Omani women who were subjected to abuse in 2022.
