MUSCAT : The forum aims to enhance local tourism and support the national economy, as well as integrate cultural and economic facets through diverse and comprehensive events. This, in turn, is expected to sustain tourism activities by setting up permanent sites to host such events.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration, the Tourism Minister said, “We are pleased to meet today in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, which is rich in natural and cultural tourism components, to celebrate the launch of the activities of the Al Ashkhara Atmosphere Forum. This will empower the Governorate in terms of tourism by investing in its comparative advantages such as mild weather in the summer, distinctive beaches and diverse environment, in addition to cultural heritage that is well integrated to form the tourism identity of the province.
“In its first edition, this forum represents a promising model for employing these unique advantages and achieving a number of economic, social and cultural goals in an integrated framework that benefits the local community and the tourism sector as a whole,” he added.

Mohamed bin Humaid Al Ghabshi, Wali of Jalan Bani Bu Ali, Head of the Organising Committee said the Forum will lead to a qualitative addition to tourism destinations in the country and encourage domestic tourism, especially during the summer. He explained that the event will unfold diversified heritage, tourism and entertainment activities that will be presented under the heritage corner and an exhibition section for entrepreneurs of small and medium establishments.
Besides, visitors will be treated to entertainment and beach games, including kite festival that will be held throughout the period.
“’Al Ashkhara Atmosphere Forum’ embodies the glories of Oman in its ancient past, its prosperous present, and its bright future. The forum is in line with the efforts made to maximize the role of tourism and enhance its contribution to the national economy within the framework of the economic diversification policy in accordance with the Oman Vision 2040,” he stated.
