Muscat: A group of Arab nationals have been arrested in Oman for robbing customers as they left banks.
The gang was caught with OMR 10,000 in their possession, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has informed on Monday.
According to ROP, the suspects would watch for people who withdraw large amounts of cash and carry them in envelopes and then break into their vehicles and steal the money.

The General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Department of Crime Prevention, has arrested a gang of Arab nationality specialized in theft of bank customers, in possession of an amount of OMR10,000.”
“The criminal method of the perpetrators was to monitor the customers during their exit from the bank and follow them until the right opportunity comes. They used to follow those customers who carry envelopes with cash and then break the glass of the vehicle and steal the money,” ROP added.
Police have warned residents not to withdraw large amounts of cash unaccompanied and to be vigilant of their surroundings. They urged people to keep valuables in a safe place and not to leave inside the vehicles.
