MUSCAT – Three shops were caught tampering with vehicle engine filters by placing counterfeit filters as original, in boxes meant to contain well-known brands. Details of the violation came to light while the judicial control officers were inspecting the shops and ensuring their compliance with the Consumer Protection Law. As per the CPA statement, one of the establishments had filled motor oils of unknown origin in cans of original brands, misleading and deceiving consumers on the type of commodity.

Accordingly, violations were issued and the necessary legal measures were taken. The Authority confirms that it will spare no effort to intensify monitoring the markets and control everything that may harm the health and safety of the consumer. It also appeals to consumers to report any violations that they may notice in the markets through the various communication channels of the Authority.
