MUSCAT – According to the information provided by the OIA, the Muscat Electricity and Distribution Company (MEDC), Mazoon Electricity Company, and the Majan Electricity Company will be merged into two companies under the Nama group – Nama Electricity Distribution and Nama Supply.
Nama Electricity Distribution will specialize in meters and low-voltage networks and includes building lines and transformers, while Nama Supply will be concerned with billing and collection operations. The merger is part of the government’s directives to restructure electric sector companies and improve spending, reduce operational costs, and raise efficiency.
