MUSCAT: Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka in Ruwi hosted what organisers described as Oman’s first Christian bhajan evening on October 2, bringing together hundreds of worshippers, music lovers and members of different Christian denominations.
Titled “Stuthiyude Vazhiyil”, meaning “In the Path of Praise”, the programme was held at St. Thomas Church Hall as the highlight of the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Youth Movement’s (MGOCYM) 2025–2026 valedictory function.
The musical programme combined Indian devotional traditions with Christian hymns and songs of praise. Priests and representatives from sister churches attended, joining the congregation in prayer and fellowship.

Coordinated by George Samuel and Benson Skaria, the performance featured a choir and instrumentalists dressed in traditional attire. Organisers said the devotional repertoire drew enthusiastic audience participation and standing ovations.
During the valedictory session, parish leaders praised the MGOCYM team for an initiative that brought younger and older members of the community together in worship.
The evening concluded with appreciation for the choir, musicians, organisers and community members who supported the programme.
