MUSCAT: Oman’s highest recorded temperature fell below 40 degrees Celsius in the latest daily bulletin issued on Saturday, as official readings showed an easing of the heat at the start of October.
Al Buraimi recorded the highest temperature at 38.8°C during the preceding 24 hours, according to the Civil Aviation Authority’s meteorological stations. All locations included in the bulletin registered maximum temperatures below 39°C.
The national maximum declined across four consecutive bulletins, from 44°C on September 30 to 41.8°C on October 1, 41.2°C on October 2 and 38.8°C on October 3.

The latest reading was the first maximum below 40°C in that four-day period, marking a decline of 5.2 degrees from the September 30 peak.
Al Sunainah recorded 38.6°C in Saturday’s bulletin, while Al Mazyunah and Dima Wat Tayeen each registered 38.3°C. Al Rustaq reached 37.4°C, Ibri 37.2°C and Samail 37°C.
Muqshin, which topped Friday’s bulletin at 41.2°C, recorded 37.3°C in the latest reporting period.
The figures show a cooling trend over the four reporting periods, although they do not establish whether temperatures will remain below 40°C in the coming days.
