MUSCAT : His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, received the delegation of Oman’s national athletics team at the VIP lounge of Muscat International Airport following their successful participation in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 in Japan.
The reception followed impressive performances by Omani sprinters Ali Al-Balushi and Mulham Al-Balushi in the men’s 100-metre race.
Ali Al-Balushi claimed the silver medal after completing the race in 10.04 seconds, while Mulham Al-Balushi secured the bronze medal with a time of 10.11 seconds.

Ali bin Anwar Al-Balushi joined the athletes’ preparation centres in 2010 and is currently classified in Category A of the programme. He has also been part of the Promising Athletes Project since 2021.
He began representing the national team in 2017 and went on to win two gold medals at the Gulf Junior Championship in 2019, triumphing in both the 100 metres and 200 metres.
Al-Balushi also finished fourth at the World Youth Championship in Nairobi in 2021 and later won gold in the 60-metre race at the 2024 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships after clocking 6.50 seconds.
Meanwhile, Mulham bin Darwish Al-Balushi joined the Promising Athletes Project in 2026 and won gold in the 100-metre race at the GCC Games held in Qatar that year.
He had earlier claimed gold at the 2024 West Asian Athletics Championships in Iraq and won bronze at the 24th Arab Athletics Championships in Algeria in 2025.
