MUSCAT: The Supreme Judicial Council has released key performance indicators for the 2025–2026 judicial year, highlighting the volume of cases handled across Oman’s courts and the judiciary’s case resolution rate.
According to the Council, a total of 177,356 cases were heard before the courts during the judicial year, with 126,487 judgments issued, resulting in an overall case resolution rate of 71 per cent.
The figures also provide a breakdown of the number of judges and their average caseload across different levels of the judiciary.

Courts of First Instance recorded 150 judges, with an average of 590 cases per judge, while Courts of Appeal had 97 judges handling an average of 456 cases each.
The Investment and Commercial Court recorded 104 judges and an average caseload of 366 cases per judge. At the Supreme Court, 81 judges handled an average of 82 cases each.
The Supreme Judicial Council said the indicators reflect efforts towards building an independent, specialised and efficient judiciary, with a continued focus on improving the efficiency and quality of judicial performance.
