MUSCAT : The Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate will host the fourth edition of the Himam Mountain Running Race 2026 next Friday, bringing together more than 1,000 runners from Oman and abroad.
Participants representing 34 nationalities will compete across mountain routes of 50, 30, 20, 10 and 4 kilometres, covering different age groups and levels of endurance.
The event is part of efforts to make greater use of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate’s natural and tourism assets and strengthen Jabal Akhdar’s position as a destination for sports and adventure tourism.

The longest race, covering 50 kilometres, will begin from Hayl Al Diyar and feature a cumulative elevation of more than 2,100 metres. Runners will have a maximum of 15 hours to complete the route, with the finish line located at Dusit D2 Jabal Akhdar resort.
The 30-kilometre and 20-kilometre races will begin from Wadi Bani Habib Park. The 30-kilometre route has a cumulative elevation exceeding 1,280 metres, while the 20-kilometre race will feature an elevation of more than 560 metres.
The 10-kilometre race will begin from Siq Village, while the 4-kilometre race, designed for participants aged between 10 and 14 years, will start from Hayl Al Yaman.
This year’s edition will also introduce a “Fun Run” over distances of one kilometre and two kilometres, with participants starting and finishing inside the courtyard of the Dusit D2 Jabal Akhdar resort.
The new category is aimed at encouraging children and younger generations to participate in running and outdoor sporting activities.
The mountain trails will offer participants a combination of sporting challenge and exposure to Jabal Akhdar’s distinctive landscape, villages, elevations and natural surroundings.
All race routes will extend towards the finish line at Dusit D2 Jabal Akhdar, taking advantage of the diverse terrain that characterises the area.
The event is also expected to contribute to the growth of sports tourism by attracting adventure and nature enthusiasts, while supporting tourism, hospitality and related services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
