MUSCAT: Oman’s Ministry of Interior on Sunday announced the preliminary lists of candidates contesting elections for the fourth term of the country’s municipal councils.
A total of 803 male and female candidates are included in the preliminary lists, of whom 16 are women, the ministry said.
The candidate lists have been made available through the “Intikhab” application and the official elections website.

The ministry said objections to names appearing on the preliminary lists may be submitted within five days from the date of their publication.
Any objection must be filed through the Intikhab application or the elections website and should include the reasons for the objection along with supporting documents.
The ministry said decisions on objections would be issued within 10 days from the day following the end of the five-day submission period.
