Riyadh: Oman’s national football team will take on Saudi Arabia in its second Group A match of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 10:00 PM Oman time.
The Red Warriors enter the encounter looking for a positive result after opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Iraq. Saudi Arabia currently lead Group A with three points following their victory over Kuwait in the opening round. A win for Oman would significantly strengthen the team’s chances of advancing to the semi-finals.
Oman will be relying on the readiness of its players, tactical discipline and mental focus as coach Tarik Sektioui looks to build on the improved second-half performance against Iraq.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Sektioui described the Saudi Arabia clash as an important and difficult test for both teams, adding that preparation and concentration could prove decisive.
The coach confirmed that Oman have no injury concerns ahead of the game and that the squad is ready for the challenge. He acknowledged that Saudi Arabia will enjoy the advantage of playing on home soil and in front of their supporters, but stressed that Oman will enter the match with determination and a winning mentality.
Sektioui said the coaching staff had placed particular emphasis on the mental side of the game, while also working on tactical and physical aspects to ensure the players are prepared for different situations during the match.
He also praised Oman’s response in their opening game against Iraq, with the Red Warriors producing a stronger second-half display to recover and earn a 1-1 draw.
Sektioui stressed that teamwork, discipline and mutual respect remain central to Oman’s approach, noting that every player selected in the squad has an important role and brings different qualities to the national team.
Oman player Abdulmajid Al Balushi said the coaching staff had worked on both the positive aspects of the team’s performance and areas that needed improvement.
He added that the players are fully prepared and motivated to fight for the national colours, stressing that wearing the Oman shirt carries a strong sense of responsibility.
