MUSCAT : The ministry said the project is being implemented in line with the approved scope of work and technical specifications under its direct supervision and in coordination with relevant authorities in the governorate.

Following several meetings and field visits involving specialists, the contractor and local community representatives, the contractor was instructed to carry out the required corrective works and update its implementation plan, work procedures, equipment and materials to meet site conditions and quality requirements.

The ministry said all road construction works are subject to technical testing and measurements to verify compliance with contractual specifications before final acceptance.

The project has faced field and logistical challenges because of the rugged mountainous terrain, the ministry said. These have included damage to some sections during construction, partly because the route remained in use in the absence of an alternative road.

The ministry said the work plan has been modified to address these challenges, while additional measures are being implemented to protect areas vulnerable to flash floods and water runoff.

The ministry added that several field visits and consultations were conducted in coordination with the Office of the Governor of North Al Sharqiyah and the Office of the Wali of Dima Wa Al Taiyyin, with observations from the local community taken into consideration.

It also reaffirmed its openness to feedback and suggestions from road users, while stressing the importance of verifying information before it is circulated.
