MUSCAT: Oman will focus on making it easier to do business, streamlining procedures and attracting high-quality investments as part of the next phase of its economic development, Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Minister His Excellency Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri said on Tuesday.
Al Jabri said the measures follow directives from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to establish a national programme aimed at strengthening the investment environment and to prepare a long-term plan to boost the growth of Oman’s non-oil trade balance.
Speaking in an interview, the minister said the directives set out an integrated economic path designed to enhance Oman’s competitiveness and consolidate its position as an attractive investment destination.

“The next phase will focus on facilitating business activity, improving the efficiency of procedures and attracting high-quality investments,” Al Jabri said.
The government will also focus on expanding non-oil exports and opening new markets for Omani products, measures expected to support private-sector growth and strengthen the country’s domestic production base.
Al Jabri said the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion would work with relevant authorities and the private sector to translate His Majesty’s directives into implementation programmes capable of delivering tangible economic impact.
The initiatives will support Oman’s economic diversification efforts and contribute to achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, he added.
