MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality has issued a clarification on the Al Ghubra bridge expansion project after technical and implementation challenges affected the progress of construction work.
The municipality said technical issues emerged during the implementation stages, particularly in completing connection works with the existing commercial building and bridge.
The challenges were related to levels, elevations and compatibility between existing and newly constructed elements, requiring some technical and construction aspects of the project to be reviewed.

Muscat Municipality said it is coordinating with the project owner, developer and supervising consultant to review engineering drawings, technical plans and the implementation programme to address the challenges.
The municipality said the project is being implemented by the private sector under permits and technical approvals issued by the relevant authorities, while Muscat Municipality carries out its supervisory and regulatory responsibilities.
It added that coordination and technical reviews are continuing to reach appropriate engineering solutions and resume the remaining works under an updated implementation schedule.
The project is expected to proceed once the necessary reviews are completed, with the municipality stressing that the works must meet technical and safety requirements while ensuring smooth traffic movement in the area.
