Muscat: The initiative is part of the Arabica Coffee Cultivation Project, funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund, and aims to boost local coffee production by encouraging cultivation in suitable mountainous areas across Dhofar.

According to the announcement, applicants must be Omani citizens with prior agricultural experience. The proposed cultivation site must be located in a mountainous area at an appropriate altitude for coffee growing, with a minimum cultivation area of 500 square metres.

The site must also be licensed by the competent authority and deemed suitable for cultivation. A permanent irrigation source and electricity supply must be available at the location.

Under the project, the Ministry will provide recommended Arabica coffee seedlings with 100% support. Beneficiaries, however, will be responsible for preparing and digging the land and installing a drip irrigation system before planting begins.

Applicants are also required to submit a survey drawing or rural housing sketch along with a copy of their national identity card.

Farmers selected for the programme must follow agricultural practices recommended by Ministry specialists and allow officials to visit the project site before planting to verify compliance with the requirements. The farms will also be subject to continued monitoring and evaluation.

The Directorate said applications that fail to meet the stipulated conditions will not be accepted.

The deadline for registration and submission of applications is Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
