MUSCAT: The open call, issued under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is open to artists and designers of all nationalities, whether based in Oman or internationally. Both emerging and established practitioners are eligible to apply.

The organisers are also encouraging collaborative proposals involving artists and local artisans, with an emphasis on connecting contemporary creative practices with Oman’s cultural heritage.

Proposals are expected to draw inspiration from Omani heritage, traditions and the country’s seafaring history while incorporating contemporary concepts, technology and design. Applicants are encouraged to explore connections with performance, music, storytelling and architecture.

The programme also calls for direct collaboration with local craftspeople and the use of traditional techniques, while seeking fresh interpretations of cultural continuity and evolution.

Eligible works may include installations, sculptures, mixed-media pieces, design-led artworks, textile-based works, contemporary craft, and digital or hybrid practices.

The Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex is being developed in Airport Heights, Muscat. The project is planned to bring together key national cultural institutions, including the National Theatre, National Library and National Records and Archives Authority.
