MUSCAT : Engineer Haitham bin Mohammed Al Dhahri, from the Lighting and Traffic Control Department at Muscat Municipality, presented a paper titled “Smart Lighting, Better Climate” during the event.
The presentation outlined the municipality’s development of a smart lighting network covering more than 100,000 light poles, including the adoption of LED technology and remote-control systems.
According to the municipality, the transition has contributed to lowering energy consumption and costs while supporting more efficient management of public lighting infrastructure.
Al Dhahri also highlighted the role of the Muscat Traffic Control Center, which manages more than 96 smart intersections across the governorate.
The smart traffic management system supports smoother traffic flow and contributes to reducing carbon emissions, linking the use of digital infrastructure with Oman’s broader climate and sustainability objectives.
